Welcome To Barbados! Minutes after arriving at the Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI) you will be greeted by our UEG Ambassador and will meet your fellow travelers. Your UEG ambassador will assist you in retrieving your luggage from baggage claim and escort you through a dedicated fast lane at customs. Now, you are ready for the real fun to commence! Your ambassador will guide you to your complimentary UEG shuttle service where you will be greeted with a warm hello from your driver, fresh cold towels and beverages. Your driver will transport you and your fellow UEG travelers from the airport to your home away from home for the next 7 days! Yes, this is all minutes after you’ve landed on the island; when we said UEG was synonymous with inclusive and royal luxuries we meant it and you deserve it!
Check into your room at a renowned UEG hotel and the afternoon is yours to see a polo match, take a tour of the Mount Gay Rum Distillery, take in the sights at the Holders Farmers Market that showcases only local products, and the Harbour Lights Dinner Show & Beach Extravaganza, featuring steel pan and other live bands, Carnival dancers, barbecue and free drinks or hit up the Barbados Museum. You have the freedom to decide! Later in the evening, we will gather together for an official meet and greet over a flavorful Bajan welcome dinner.
Thursday: August 2nd, 2019
Good Morning…waking up to the scenic views of Accra Beach’s crystal blue waters you can enjoy a Bajan breakfast as you continue to connect with other UEG travelers. As you clean up from breakfast, we will enjoy a calming stroll on Accra Beach or you can catch a quick power nap on one of the beach lounge chairs where the views and breeze from the Caribbean Sea soothe you to sleep like a baby.
Next, we will gather together in the lobby to prepare for our signature rum tour departure. As we arrive, you will be welcomed with a glass of the Barbados signature island drink, Rum Punch. As the tour starts, you will quickly become more of a Bajan at heart learning the history of Barbados rum and how they achieved its award-winning taste through the fine art of Barbados rum making. Next, we will put our skills to the test in a friendly mixologist competition!
After the rum tour, we will head back to our accommodations where you are free to enjoy the remainder of your day at your leisure and possibly recuperate from our rum tour! Feel free to soak up the Barbadian sun rays at Pirates Cove Beach or visit Oisten’s for some good eats.
For those who dare, join your island neighbors in The Foreday Morning Jam. A nighttime street party with a parade of organized bands of revelers, covered in paint and powder partying for their lives following the Pic-O-De-Crop calypso competition and doesn’t end until the sun comes up… Join the party and dance the night away to sweet soca music through the streets of Barbados.
Friday: August 3rd, 2019
Rise and shine, have you gotten used to those views yet?! Us either! Peel yourself from your relaxing room to fuel yourself for the day with a delectable Bajan style breakfast and even welcome some of the UEG guests back as they return from hours of dancing, partying, and covered in paint. For those who experienced the Foreday celebration, you may choose to get a little R&R or move like the Caribbean’s by getting no sleep and preparing for the next fete (party). We get it, it’s CROP OVER! Whether you decide to fete your day away, relax at a nearby beach with a good book, or head to Bridgetown for some shopping and drinks or all the above, it’s your day. Feel free to roam the island as you please.
Saturday: August 4th, 2019
Today you are in for a real treat! Join your fellow UEG Experiencers, for early morning dining. Being mindful that we are in the culinary capital of the Caribbean, our Bajan breakfast keeps getting better and better, be sure and jot down a recipe or two to experiment when you return! You will leave the island with memories of AMAZING Caribbean food, great conversation, and better company.
After breakfast, we will partake in a friendly competition with an island scavenger hunt. You will partner up with a fellow UEG Experiencer. The two of you will venture out onto the island as a team, with the hopes of being the first to complete the scavenger hunt. You will learn the island even more and “brush shoulders” with the locals throughout your day.
In the evening, we will join the island for the most entertaining, interactive concert experience including some of the hottest entertainers in the Caribbean. The music of Barbados is a synthesis of diverse styles and influences, most notable of British and African origins. It’s all in the hips! When the music starts and the rhythms hits your immediate response is to move those hips or to “wuk up” as the locals say.
Sunday: August 5th, 2019
At last, who’s ready to Play Mas?!?! The final act of the Crop Over Festival Celebration… The Grand Kadooment!
Delight in your Bajan breakfast before heading out to celebrate the last hooray, the end of Crop Over! After breakfast, join the most celebrated event of The Crop Over season. Whether you are jumping with a band or watching from the side of the road amongst the locals you are guaranteed to feel the pulse of the island. Masquerade Bands make their way to Spring Garden highway with revelers dressed in sequin costumes decorated with colorful feathers, jewels, and bright accents; dancing behind music trucks and moving bars! Be sure to bring everything that you have learned thus far as we parade throughout the Barbadian streets singing Soca in the sun.
Monday: August 6th, 2019
After breakfast, we will embark on a Private Island Safari Tour in rugged 4×4 Jeeps with a combination of on and off-road adventures, visiting the beautifully landscaped gardens and panoramic views of Gun Hill and Cherry Tree Hill. We will top it all off by catching the beautiful views of the east coast and ending our tour at Animal Flower Cave, with pools deep enough for you to swim in! Next, we will transfer to a coach that will transport us to Pirates Cove Beach where a scrumptious Bajan lunch with a private tent and picnic tables awaits us.
Later that evening we will gather for our last evening together. Over dinner will be the perfect time to reflect over our week together in Barbados.
Tuesday: August 7th, 2019
Join your fellow UEG members as we share our final breakfast together. Our last full day is yours to do as you wish. Perhaps the beach is calling your name or you need to hit up Bridgetown for some last-minute souvenirs. Either way, the day is yours to roam or relax.
Later that evening, join us for a seat at the table during our special farewell dinner, where we reflect over our time in Barbados. After dinner, we say our final goodbyes as a group but will forever remain connected as UEG certified Experiencers, never forgetting the memories we made this week at Crop Over!
Wednesday: August 8th, 2019
